There is a growing demand for Afro-Caribbean food in the UK: from basic foodstuffs such as yam flour and oloyin beans to long grain rice. As supermarkets in the UK start to meet the demand for Afro-Caribbean food, they are subject to high import charges and naturally this is passed on to their customers. Oshodi Foods Limited was set up by Ismail Oshodi, who explains his business strategy;
"As a small independent business Oshodi Foods knows which brands to choose, we respond quickly to changing trends and we benefit from partnerships with smaller distributors which results in cost-savings for our customers. We started out as a wholesale distributor and now provide wholesale and Oshodi Food branded goods to a variety of high street retailers, cash and carry stores as well as individuals. We offer our customers the ability to place orders, 7 days a week.
